How Rock Anchors and Soil Nails Work
Soil Nails are installed by drilling holes into the slope face and inserting steel reinforcement bars with grout. The system works passively; as soil movement begins, the nails engage to resist further displacement through friction and bonding with the surrounding soil mass.
Rock Anchors are tensioned cable or bar systems that actively pull structural elements into stable rock or firm soil layers. Post-tensioning creates immediate load resistance, making them ideal for critical applications where movement cannot be tolerated.
Both systems can be combined with shotcrete facing, drainage systems, and monitoring equipment for full slope stabilization.
